About the role
We are a small, well-established anaesthetic practice in Wahroonga looking for an experienced and proactive Medical Secretary to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being organised, working independently and taking pride in providing a high level of service to patients and medical practitioners.
You will play an important role in the day-to-day coordination of our anaesthetic practice, working closely with our Anaesthetists and supporting the smooth running of patient bookings, theatre lists, accounts and general administration.
What you'll be doing
Coordinating anaesthetic bookings with surgeons' rooms, hospitals and patients
Managing theatre lists and daily schedules for multiple Anaesthetists
Preparing and sending patient estimates, invoices and accounts
Responding to patient, surgeon and hospital enquiries by phone and email
Maintaining accurate patient records and confidential medical information
Processing Medicare and private health fund billing using Meditrust
Following up outstanding accounts and assisting with billing enquiries
Managing correspondence and general practice administration
Providing day-to-day administrative support to our Anaesthetists and practice team
Helping ensure patients receive a professional, efficient and positive experience from their first contact with the practice
What we're looking for
Ideally 1-2 years' experience as a Medical Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional phone manner
High attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
Reliable, punctual and adaptable with a strong work ethic
Understanding of Medicare and private health insurance billing will be highly regarded
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitivity in a medical environment
Experience with Meditrust and/or anaesthetic billing will be highly regarded, but training and support will be provided to the right person
