About the role
Your ideal in-house career awaits
LOD (Lawyers On Demand) is one of the largest and fastest growing global legal services businesses, and as a ‘new law’ pioneer, we continue to lead the market we created.
We're a global business with offices around the world that focus on providing end-to-end solutions for our clients' legal needs, by connecting them with our team of exceptional legal professionals.
We provide secondment opportunities, legal advisory services, and legal operations & tech solutions. Together, we find new ways to supercharge the value that legal professionals and in-house legal teams deliver.
With LOD, you get all the best bits of being a lawyer - interesting work with some of the world's most exciting organisations, plus the flexibility and freedom to live your life how you want.
Who are we looking for?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join a local council on assignment through LOD. In this role, you will provide strategic and practical legal advice on the effective management of Council-owned property, including leasing, licensing and arrangements. You will also deliver specialist advice on technology, procurement, and prosecution matters, supporting the Council's compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory obligations.
This is a part-time assignment working three days per week which will initially run for three months. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with one day per week in the office, located in Melbourne's western suburbs.
To join us, you will:
Have between 4-10 years relevant PQE
Bring prior experience working within local government or advising local government clients
Have a strong understanding of legislative frameworks and proven experience interpreting and applying legislation, particularly the Local Government Act and associated regulations
Be a confident and influential communicator with a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset
