Urban Property Group
About the role
Company Description
Urban Property Group is quickly becoming one of NSW's largest and most dynamic residential developers and there's never been a more exciting time to join our team.
A 4.5-star iCIRT-rated property company, Urban has over 40 years of experience delivering high-quality homes, workplaces and retail environments that shape thriving communities across Sydney. Today, we are a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary organisation, bringing together development, design and construction expertise under one roof. This end-to-end capability enables us to deliver on our vision to build for the way living should be, creating places that genuinely enhance how people live.
As we continue to grow our pipeline, we're looking for an experienced Senior Development Manager to take ownership of projects from concept through to completion.
The Role
Working closely with our Project Director, you'll manage the full development lifecycle for our mixed-use projects - from initial brief and feasibility through design, approvals, construction delivery, and settlement. This is a role for someone who understands how the pieces of a development fit together: design, cost, program, risk, and people all need to move in sync, and you'll be the one holding that picture together.
You'll have real autonomy here, working directly with authorities, consultants, our internal delivery teams, and the finance and legal functions that keep a project on track.
Key Responsibilities
Leading project and product briefs, budgets, and development forecasts, and keeping cost and program reporting on track month to month
Managing the design process to land a marketable, cost-effective outcome that meets brief, budget, and timeframe
Driving planning and development approvals, and managing consultant teams through design documentation, Construction Certificates and Occupation Certificates
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with councils, state authorities (RFS, LPI, Office of Water, Sydney Water, Ausgrid) and, where relevant, joint venture partners
Reviewing contractor WH&S systems and getting out to site regularly to check in on safety, quality, cost and design
Working with legal advisers on sales contracts, titling strategy, and funding approval documentation
Partnering with sales and marketing to keep collateral and delivery timelines aligned, and championing a customer-first approach through to settlement
Supporting and coaching junior team members as part of a collaborative project team
About You
A degree in Development, Construction, or a related field
At least 8 years' industry experience, including mixed-use residential projects
High-rise residential or commercial development experience
A track record managing multi-disciplinary consultant teams and full project delivery
Strong financial and budget management skills, with the ability to read and manage a project's numbers as closely as its design
Confident contract negotiation and stakeholder management skills — you'll be dealing with authorities, consultants, JV partners and internal teams alike
Someone resilient and adaptable, comfortable juggling competing design, cost, and constructability pressures without losing sight of the bigger picture
Why Join Urban
Work across high-quality, design-led residential projects
Collaborative, down-to-earth team environment
A business that values quality, long-term thinking and people-first outcomes
