About the role
Palisades is working with a Federal Government client to recruit an experienced APS6 Clinician to support the delivery of critical mental health services for Australians and their families.

As a Clinician, you will provide telephone-based mental health services including intake, assessment, triage, risk management, brief interventions, and referrals to appropriate support services.
Working within a national service delivery team, you will engage with clients experiencing a broad range of mental health and wellbeing concerns, ensuring timely access to support and care.
This role operates within a structured clinical governance framework and offers ongoing professional development, coaching, and clinical supervision.
Conduct client intake, assessment and triage consultations
Complete clinical risk and safety assessments
Provide brief evidence-based interventions and counselling support
Deliver crisis response and risk management where required
Facilitate referrals to internal and external support services
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
Adhere to professional, ethical and legislative requirements
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Experience working within mental health, counselling, psychology, social work or related clinical settings
Strong risk assessment and crisis intervention capabilities
Experience supporting clients experiencing complex or acute mental health concerns
Excellent communication and rapport-building skills
High-level clinical judgement and decision-making ability
Strong documentation and case management skills
Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities
A trauma-informed and client-centred approach to care
Telephone-based counselling or telehealth services
Intake and triage environments
Crisis support services
Community mental health programs
Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
Veteran, emergency services, defence or trauma-informed practice
Applicants must hold one of the following:
Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse; OR
Qualification in Social Work with current AASW membership; OR
Master's level Counselling qualification with PACFA Registered Clinical Counsellor registration or ACA Level 3/4 registration.
Additionally, applicants must:
Be an Australian Citizen
Hold or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check and/or Working with Vulnerable People registration
Be willing and eligible to obtain a Federal Government Baseline Security Clearance
