About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available for qualified Christian educator to join our Secondary College at the beginning of 2027. We are looking for a dedicated full-time Head of Learning Area – Music whose primary role will be located at the Kenwick campus.
This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape and grow a vibrant whole-College music program, providing leadership and mentoring to teachers across both of our Primary schools and our Secondary school, as well as our team of instrumental tutors.
The successful applicant will inspire students to see that their musical gifts are not simply talents to be admired, but gifts to be stewarded for the glory of God and the blessing of others through a music education that is distinctly Christian in character and purpose.
If you are a visionary leader with a passion for music education, a heart for Christian worldview teaching, and a desire to see students and staff flourish, we would love to hear from you.
About RehobothAs the first Christian parent-governed school in Western Australia, we are pioneers of distinctly Christian education. Our rich heritage stretches back almost sixty years; we have learned a fair bit in that time and are always seeking ways to improve and innovate.
Rehoboth exists to partner with families in their God-given task of nurturing and educating their children. You will be joining a team who really believe in their mission to lead students to think and live for the glory of God in every aspect of their lives.
About the PositionThe Head of Learning Area will be responsible for leading and managing the effective operation of the designated Learning Area of Music at the Secondary Campus in Kenwick, Perth, Western Australia. An important focus is ensuring the effective delivery of a Christ-centred, developmentally appropriate Music curriculum from Years 7–12, grounded in a Christian worldview.
The successful applicant will oversee the College’s curriculum design and implementation across all Music subject areas, ensuring alignment with the curriculum framework and the College’s mission. A key focus will be on fostering a consistent and coherent set of learning experiences that promote skill development, integration across disciplines and the use of diverse teaching and learning strategies.
The Head of Learning Area will also supervise and support teachers through professional development, performance management and curriculum planning. They will monitor classroom delivery to ensure high standards of teaching, assessment and reporting, while encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
The Head of Learning Area for Music will also lead the College’s Instrumental Music Program across Primary and Secondary campuses, overseeing a team of tutors and coordinating tutor new appointments, induction, scheduling, attendance and student progress.
The role includes developing a whole-College vision for Music, fostering collaborative and distinctly Christian learning experiences, and supporting music events and performances across the College.
The Head of Learning area will be part of the Secondary leadership team and will contribute to College-wide initiatives, participate in Curriculum Team meetings and lead Learning Area contributions to strategic and operational plans. The role includes responsibility for managing the Learning Area budget and maintaining a positive, collaborative Christian culture within the team.
The ability to teach up to FTE 0.5 as a component of this senior role is stipulated.
Apart from the necessary qualifications, we look for people who are the right fit for our culture. Rehoboth is a community of Christians – parents and staff alike – and we are all about supporting and encouraging each other in our spiritual walks and encouraging students to explore their faith and discover their God-given gifts.
Because of the deeply Christian nature of our College, we consider all staff to be role models to students, no matter what position they have. We take your active involvement in a local Protestant Christian church, a deeply committed Christian lifestyle, and ability to articulate your personal Christian faith as evidence of your desire to help build a vibrant Christian community at Rehoboth.
To realise this vision of community, we take your active involvement in a local Protestant Christian church and ability to articulate your personal Christian faith as evidence of this.
You will also need to be an exceptional communicator and have an outstanding ability to work collaboratively with staff and students. This is where your pastoral heart and passion for teaching will shine.
Applicants must demonstrate (by way of a testimonial letter from your pastor/elder):
