Senior Piping Designer

Wood is currently seeking a Senior Piping Designer in order to grow its Brisbane Mining & Mineral group to meet the large demand in critical metals projects.

Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for duties such as:

• Develop piping and pipe support standard detail drawings
• Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures
• Provide input into the P&IDs and participate in HAZOP reviews
• Provide technical support to the onsite construction teams, projects department and estimating department
• Ensure the quality of deliverables in line with the relevant codes and standards, needs of the customer and regulatory authorities

• Minimum of 10 years design drafting experience
• Strong knowledge in applying relevant industry design practices and key national and international standards and codes
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, particularly the ability to communicate mechanical/piping/pipeline requirements to other members of the project team
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microstation, Openplant
• Ability to deliver best practice plant/piping design, with emphasis on cost-effective engineering
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• High degree of competency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
