Senior Platform Engineer | Remote | Australia

I'm representing a growing, seed-stage Australian healthtech company that builds AI-powered software, and they're looking for their second Senior Platform Engineer to own the infrastructure, security, and platform engineering end to end. From day-to-day reliability through to the automation and AI-agent tooling that makes the rest of the team faster.
This is a hands-on senior IC role for someone who wants genuine breadth: not just DevOps, not just SRE, but someone comfortable owning solutions design, security compliance, and the guardrails that let AI agents safely take on real engineering work.
 
You're balancing build-fast, seed-stage pace against real security and compliance stakes, given the platform handles sensitive clinical data. The platform is built to support global expansion, so the infrastructure and compliance foundations you put in place now will need to scale well beyond Australia
 
What the role involves:
 
- Designing and building the "harness" AI agents operate within; the tools, permissions, and guardrails that let them safely execute real infrastructure and automation tasks
- Writing and maintaining production-quality code for internal tooling and automation, with proper version control, testing, and code review
- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
- Owning reliability, observability, and cost across a multi-cloud environment (GCP, AWS, Azure) - Running Kubernetes and container platforms
- Leading solutions design for new systems and integrations
- Maintaining compliance against frameworks like ISO 27001, the Essential Eight, and Australian privacy standards
- Taking part in a shared on-call roster
- Acting as senior escalation point for internal support
 
What they're looking for:

• Some hands-on experience with agentic engineering or AI-assisted operations tooling you don't need to be a deep expert, but you've used it for real work
• Senior Engineers with Platform, DevOps, or SRE experience with genuine breadth across systems, cloud, and security
• Strong software engineering fundamentals at least one language (e.g. Python, Go), git-based workflows, automated testing
• Kubernetes and container runtime experience
• Multi-cloud experience across GCP, AWS, and/or Azure
• Exposure to security compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, Essential Eight, or similar)
