Chef

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to join our team on a full-time basis at the Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre in Northam, Western Australia.

Position Details

• Full-time role: 38 hours per week, across a 7-day roster between 5am and 7.30pm
• Must be available to work on weekends (Rotational Roster)
• Work Location - Onsite
• Annual Salary - $70,000 - $80,000

What you’ll do 

The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below: 

• Assemble, prepare, and produce food requirements as directed by the Catering Manager. This includes food safety, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, managing stock control, and adhering to all kitchen policies and procedures. 
• Ensure compliance with the HACCP Food Safety Plan, monitoring food safety standards and practices, maintaining hygiene in food preparation areas, and completing all Food Safety Documentation accurately and timely. 
• Monitor and enforce food storage standards, ensuring proper handling and rotation of stock using First In, First Out (FIFO) principles, and maintaining appropriate holding temperatures for perishable items. 
• Ensure compliance with our Standards of Business Conduct and contribute to a culture of safety and quality improvement.

What you’ll bring 

• Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate 
• Knowledge of menu and nutritional standards 
• Full understanding of HACCP Food Safety guidelines 
• Exemplary bulk cooking skills (ideal Aged Care or Resources experience)
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities 
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
