Head of Data Center Operations📍Melbourne, Australia | Executive Leadership Opportunity We are representing a leading and rapidly expanding data center developer seeking a Head of Data Center Operations to oversee the operational performance, reliability, and growth of a large-scale portfolio of mission-critical facilities. This is a highly strategic executive leadership role, suited to an individual who can build and lead world-class operations teams, drive operational excellence across multiple sites, and develop the long-term operational strategy for a growing data center platform. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future of the business, ensuring the highest standards of uptime, customer experience, safety, and operational governance. Key ResponsibilitiesLead the overall operational strategy and performance of a portfolio of Data Centers across multiple locations.Build and manage a high-performing operations organisation encompassing facility operations, engineering, maintenance, critical environments, capacity planning, and operational readiness.Ensure the highest levels of uptime, resiliency, compliance, and service delivery across all facilities.Develop and implement operational standards, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.Oversee critical infrastructure operations including electrical, mechanical, controls, and life safety systems.Drive operational readiness for new facility launches, expansions, and capacity deployments.Lead vendor and service-provider management, ensuring strong performance, accountability, and value creation.Partner closely with construction, development, engineering, customer success, and executive leadership teams to support the company's growth strategy.Establish and monitor KPIs, operational reporting, risk management frameworks, and business continuity programs.Foster a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Key Requirements10+ years of experience within critical infrastructure, mission-critical environments, data centers, telecommunications, utilities, or comparable industries.Extensive experience leading operations for large-scale, multi-site facilities or infrastructure portfolios.Proven track record managing business-critical operations with stringent uptime and reliability requirements.Strong understanding of critical electrical and mechanical systems, operational risk management, maintenance programs, and incident response.Demonstrated experience building and leading senior operational leadership teams.Experience developing operational strategy, governance frameworks, and long-term capacity planning initiatives.Exceptional stakeholder management and executive-level communication skills.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
