Retail Assistant - Seafood Retail Trailers

We are a growing family-owned seafood business specialising in local, sustainable, high-quality seafood, operating mobile retail trailers at roadside locations and farmers markets. We are seeking a reliable, motivated Retail Assistant to help run our day-to-day operations.

This is a hands-on role with a high level of responsibility. You will work alongside the owner/managers, and occasionally you will work independently. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations and providing excellent customer service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, and is looking for a stable, long-term role in a growing business. There is opportunity for advancement in the business with a path to become assistant manager.

We operate at various markets around Brisbane including Ascot, New Farm and Brisbane CBD.

This position is available for an immediate start, but we can be flexible for the right candidate.

Role Responsibilities

·         Working at seafood retail trailers at roadside locations and farmers markets

·         Setting up and packing down the trailer each day

·         Serving customers and providing friendly, professional customer service

·         Handling cash and EFTPOS transactions and assisting with daily reconciliation

·         Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety

·         Assist with monitoring stock levels and communicating stock requirements

·         Representing the business professionally at all times

·         Managing daily operations independently when required

Requirements

·         Current Australian Driver’s Licence (essential)

·         Physically fit and able to lift up to 20kg

·         Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain)

·         Willing to work Saturday and Sunday every week

·         Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, and highly responsible

·         Able to work as part of a team

·         Friendly, confident, and customer-focused

·         Comfortable handling cash and EFTPOS transactions

·         Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

·         Retail or customer service experience preferred but not essential

·         Positive attitude and strong work ethic

·         Advantageous but not necessary -  comfortable driving and towing a trailer, or willing to learn how to tow a trailer. 

·         Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Hours

·         Full time position, approximately 36–41 hours per week

·         Four day week is an option

·         Wednesday to Sunday each week

·         Weekend work and some public holidays required

·         Expected start time range 5:00am–8:00am depending on day

Remuneration and Benefits

·         Salary position: $63,000 – $75,000 + superannuation, depending on experience
