Role Description The Chief LLM Architect Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC, responsible for defining and leading TravelFlap’s AI and large language model architecture across products and platforms. This role designs scalable, secure, and high-performance LLM systems that power customer-facing travel experiences, internal tools, and white-label solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing end-to-end LLM solution design, guiding model selection and fine-tuning strategies, and integrating AI components with existing microservices, data pipelines, and front-end applications. The position collaborates closely with engineering, data science, product, and operations teams to prioritize roadmap features, manage technical trade-offs, and ensure reliable deployment and monitoring of AI models in production. The role also involves establishing best practices, mentoring technical teams, conducting architecture reviews, and staying on top of emerging AI/ML technologies relevant to large language and vision models in the travel domain.
QualificationsArchitecture and system design skills to create robust, scalable AI and LLM platforms, LCM, LAM, NLP, VLM, RAG, Lang Chain, Agentic AI including cloud-native and microservices-based solutions.Project Management capabilities to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept to production, with strong planning, prioritization, and delivery discipline.Teamwork and leadership skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and mentor engineers, data scientists, and ML practitioners.Experience with modern AI/ML stacks, including large language models (LLMs), NLP, multimodal or vision-language models, and MLOps frameworks.Proficiency in at least one major programming language (such as Python, Java, or Go) and familiarity with APIs, data engineering, and distributed systems.Background in software engineering, computer science, data science, or a related technical field; advanced degree or equivalent experience is highly beneficial.Experience architecting AI solutions in high
