Overview
We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join a high‑performing finance team within a large, project‑driven organisation operating across civil, infrastructure and resources. This role is ideal for an accountant who thrives in fast‑paced operational environments and brings strong capability across corporate accounting, statutory compliance, financial governance and project‑based reporting.
Working closely with the General Manager Finance and a peer Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and supporting commercial decision‑making across multiple business units and project portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Accounting - Prepare monthly consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements and supporting notes within strict reporting deadlines.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, capitalisation processes and monthly Capex reporting.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and ensure general ledger and chart of accounts integrity.
- Support external audit requirements with accurate timely documentation.
- Assist with internal control improvements, system rollouts and ERP enhancements.
- Liaise with parent entity and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.
- Maintain AASB 16 lease schedules, including additions, modifications, and disposals.
Reporting, Tax & Compliance - Prepare monthly overhead forecasts and support annual budget cycles.
- Assist with Board reporting and financial templates.
- Support project reporting including tender inputs and project close out financials.
- Prepare statutory returns including BAS, FBT, ABS surveys, payment times reporting and TPAR.
- Assist with insurance renewals and corporate cost allocations.
- Ensure critical payments meet cut off times and maintain daily cash reporting.
- Provide general accounting support across the finance function.

Qualifications & Experience - Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce (essential).
- CA or CPA qualification (essential).
- Minimum 5 years' accounting experience within a large commercial organisation, ideally within construction, civil engineering, mining or project based environments.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and contemporary accounting standards.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency across MS Office.
- Excellent time management with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical capability and clear communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
