Lawn and garden maintenance crew leader

About the role

Newy Yard Maintenance is seeking an experienced and dedicated Lawn and Garden Maintenance Crew Member to join our growing team. This is a full-time position based in Warners Bay, NSW, where you will perform our outdoor maintenance operations. As Crew Member, you will be responsible for overseeing different maintenance runs, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and maintaining strong relationships with our clients. This role offers the perfect opportunity for a hands-on leader who is passionate about landscaping and garden maintenance whilst demonstrating excellent attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Work in a team of lawn and garden maintenance staff, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard

• Perform daily maintenance tasks, including lawn mowing, garden care, hedge trimming, and general grounds maintenance

• Communicate directly with clients to understand their requirements, address concerns, and maintain strong customer relationships

• Maintain and service garden equipment and machinery, ensuring all tools are in safe working order

• Report on job progress, track hours, and prepare documentation for completed work

• Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations and company procedures

• Contribute hands-on to maintenance tasks working with the team

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in lawn and garden maintenance with at least 3-5 years experience

• Comprehensive knowledge of grass maintenance, garden care, pruning, and landscape practices

• Strong leadership and team management abilities with the capacity to motivate and support other team members

• Excellent communication skills with both team members and clients

• Ability to operate and maintain garden machinery and landscaping equipment safely and effectively

• Sound understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to grounds maintenance work

• Physical fitness and capability to perform outdoor maintenance work in various weather conditions

• Organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks

• A valid driver's licence and reliable transport

• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work challenges

• Desirable: Experience with scheduling software, or relevant qualifications in horticulture or landscaping
