You have been on the tools long enough to know a proper repair from a rushed one. You can walk into a workshop, look at the presentation, the setup, look at processes, and a couple of structural jobs, and know within ten minutes whether that shop is doing the right thing.

We are looking for that person.

A global high end vehicle manufacturer's approved collision repair network across Asia Pacific needs a shop inspector. The role is to look after 44–45 approved body shops across the Asia Pacific region, assess them against the manufacturer's criteria and standards, and work with the operators to close the gaps. You are not there to catch people out. You are there to guide and lift the standard and protect the brand on the bonnet.

The role

Based in Sydney, covering the Asia Pacific region

44–45 approved body shops in your portfolio

Regular international travel — this is a genuine part of the job, not an occasional perk

Job entails 40 hours a week, structured entirely around your own schedule

Engaged as a contractor on your own ABN.

Circa $120,000.00 AUD, plus travel and accommodation

What you bring

Trade qualification and solid time served as a panel beater

Real structural repair knowledge — mixed materials, aluminium and bonded construction an advantage

The judgement to assess a workshop properly and the diplomacy to have an honest conversation with the owner afterwards

Comfort with reporting and documentation — the findings go into a digital audit platform, so you need to be functional on a laptop and tablet

A current passport and genuine willingness to travel

An ABN, or the willingness to set one up

Most panel beaters who move off the tools end up in a management job in one shop. This is different. You keep the trade at the centre of what you do, you carry real authority, and you see how the best repairers in a dozen countries actually work. The autonomy is real — a person who can self manage and be organised is required.
