Position vacant for Experienced Chef specializing Indian Cuisine

We have a Full Time position vacant for an Experienced Chef at Jai Ho Indian Restaurant Richmond.

We are multi award winning Indian restaurant in Richmond operating for more than 15 Years and known for our quality and consistency.

This role involves managing Curry & Tandoor section of the kitchen & catering operations ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, and quality. This role involves closely working with team of other Chefs to maintain smooth kitchen operations, overseeing kitchen staff, managing stock, and contributing to menu creation. The Chef must be proactive, organized, hygienic, punctual and possess strong culinary skills to inspire and motivate the team.

Eligibility

• Qualification: Candidate must have a Diploma of Hospitality Management
• Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience
• Proven experience leading a kitchen specializing in Indian cuisine
• Strong leadership and management skill
• Passion for Indian cuisine and culinary creativity
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail
• Knowledge of current hospitality trends and kitchen management software

Responsibilities

Stock Management

• Account for all kitchen stock, ensuring invoices match received stock
• Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring timely ordering of supplies.
• Oversee inventory control and minimize stock wastage.

Kitchen Management

• Ensure kitchen staff perform their roles effectively and timely.
• Follow and update opening and closing procedures for the kitchen.
• Keep kitchen staff motivated and positive.
• Train staff on new dishes, seasonal menu updates and kitchen procedures.
• Ensure new staff complete workplace health and safety documents.

Financial/Reporting

• Work with other chefs and management team to stay within budget.
• Maintain food cost percentages as set by management.

Service

• Maintain high-quality and consistent food preparation and presentation.
• Ensure the kitchen area is kept clean and well-maintained.

Maintenance

• Always keep the kitchen clean and well-maintained.
• Ensure smooth operations by following up on tasks and communicating with all staff.
• Report all maintenance items promptly.

Leadership/Training

• Motivate and inspire the kitchen team, strengthening their skills.
• Lead by example, demonstrating a willingness to perform any task.
• Regularly seek ways to improve kitchen procedures and systems.

Kitchen Operations

• Assist in the creation seasonal menus, following recipes, keeping the offerings fresh and exciting.
• Ensure compliance with all legal requirements related to food.
• Follow health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
• Keep all required logbooks up to date, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and maintenance logs.
• Cover roles and responsibilities during any absence with assistance from other chefs or management.
• Maintain the culture of the kitchen team, ensuring alignment with business operations.

Salary Package

• Ranging $80-$90000 per annum for the right candidate
