Laboratory Technician

The Role

The Laboratory Technician role is a permanent, part-time position that operates during school term time.

• Workload: 0.4 FTE, with flexibility to discuss variations to this load.

• Schedule: Ideally Wednesday and Thursday, with working days negotiable for the right candidate.

• Start date: Term 4, 2026, with flexibility for the right candidate.

Broad Objective

The Laboratory Technician plays an important role in the Science Department, providing high-quality administrative and technical support to enable engaging, well-prepared practical learning experiences. Working collaboratively with the Head of Science and Science staff, the Laboratory Technician maintains safe, clean and orderly preparation areas and resources, and supports the requirements of practical lessons and student Science projects.

Qualifications, skills and experience

• Actively supportive of the Christian mission and values of the College.

• Tertiary qualifications in Science and appropriate Certificates/Diplomas in Laboratory Technology and Techniques.

• Experience and knowledge of the content and working scientifically skills of the NSW Science Curriculum Stages 4-6, in particular Chemistry and Physics – highly desirable.

• Experience and knowledge of the requirements for the Stage 6 Depth Studies and Extension Science Programs -– highly desirable.

• Strong understanding of WHS requirements.

• Previous experience in school or university laboratories – highly desirable.

• Ability to manage the workflow and proactively resolve issues in an efficient manner.
