Macquarie University Health
About the role
Drive innovation in healthcare, transform patient outcomes, and advance your career at Macquarie University Health (based at Macquarie University Hospital, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)
Macquarie University Health is seeking two Unaccredited Cardiology Registrars to join the Cardiology team at Macquarie University Hospital. These are early-career positions designed for doctors who intend to pursue a career in cardiology and want to build the core clinical and procedural skill set expected before entering formal advanced training.
The positions serve a dual purpose: providing medical cover for cardiology patients, and supporting broader medical patients across the hospital. During weekdays you will work as the Medical Officer in Charge, providing ad hoc support, advice and supervision to junior medical staff managing medical issues throughout the hospital. On weekends, your focus shifts to medical ward-based duties, including patients in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
You will cross-cover cardiology patients alongside the Nepean Network Accredited Advanced Trainee, which creates structured training and procedural opportunities for both roles. If you are looking for a supportive environment where teaching, supervision and hands-on procedural exposure are part of everyday practice, we would like to hear from you.
The Role
Reporting within the Cardiology service, the Unaccredited Cardiology Registrar is responsible for the assistance, supervision and provision of high-quality clinical assessment, management and consultation to cardiology and medical inpatients within Macquarie University Hospital and Macquarie University Health. The role balances cardiology-specific learning with broader general medical responsibility, and carries a clear expectation of participation in education, supervision of junior doctors and students, and ongoing quality assurance and improvement.
Key Accountabilities
(Including but not limited to)
All clinical services are provided within the scope of practice granted by the Macquarie University Hospital Medical Advisory Committee and approved by the Macquarie University Hospital Board, in accordance with Macquarie University Health policies and procedures, the Hospital By-laws, and contemporary evidence-based best practice.
