About the position:
Adept Fire Protection Services has recently secured multiple large commercial and residential contracts. We are looking for an experienced fire services designer to join our growing team. The role will require the successful applicant to work closely with out design manager and other members of our team to continue the successful delivery of projects for our wet and dry fire team.
Your duties will include:
Designing fully compliant wet and dry fire systems in line with Australian Standards
Prepare wet and dry fire schematics
Producing fabrication drawings
Producing shop drawings , block plans, and as-builts
Perform hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing
Prepare penetration drawings
Prepare hydrant coverage plans
Engage with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to attend coordination meetings
Coordinate with local authorities and prepare submissions for approval
Supporting project teams to deliver works on time, on budget, and to spec
Liaising with site teams and reviewing designs with internal stakeholders
Ensuring documentation is prepared and accurate
Ensuring compliance with codes, contracts, and internal systems like Procore
To be successful in this role you will have:
Knowledge of Australian standards AS2118.1, AS2118.6, AS2419.1, AS1670.1, AS1670.4 is essential. Knowledge of international fire services standards (NFPA / BS standards) also acceptable.
Previous proven experience working as a fire services designer (min 3 years).
Previous experience in preparing penetration drawings (builder's works), layouts, schematics, details, and fitout drawings.
Proficient with 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D Revit BIM modelling
Ability to read, understand, liaise, and coordinate with architect, structural, and other services (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, etc…)
Liaising with BIM manager and coordinate all activities, from planning to closeout.
Quality audits and checks to ensure work meets standards
Reporting to ensure timelines and deadlines are met
Good personal presentation
A strong focus on safety
