Support the leadership of a specialist Commonwealth tribunal serving Australia's veteran community.

The Veterans' Review Board (VRB) is a specialist merits review tribunal committed to delivering fair, timely and accessible review outcomes for veterans, serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.

The Executive Officer is responsible for the efficient operation of the Principal Member’s Office and the delivery of high-quality member support services.

You will provide high-level executive support to the Principal Member, coordinate the administrative arrangements that enable Members to perform their statutory functions and oversee the operational administration of the Board's DRCA jurisdiction.

You will manage full-time and sessional member remuneration, travel and related entitlements, assist in coordinate appointment processes and onboarding activities, maintain accurate member records and ensure executive support to the Principal Member is delivered professionally, efficiently and in accordance with legislative and governance requirements.

The role also supervises an APS 4 officer and is responsible for improving business processes, maintaining high standards of service delivery in the VRB’s DRCA jurisdiction and contributing to the continuous improvement of member services and executive operations.

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Principal Member’s Office.
• Provide high-level executive support to the Principal Member, including diary management, correspondence, travel, meetings and administrative coordination.
• Manage member support services, including assisting with appointment processes, onboarding, remuneration, travel, accommodation and expense claims.
• Oversee the operational administration of the Board's DRCA jurisdiction.
• Coordinate member sitting arrangements and associated administrative processes.
• Maintain accurate records relating to member appointments, remuneration, travel and other administrative matters.
• Supervise and develop an APS 4 officer responsible for DRCA case management. 
• Build productive relationships with Members, registry staff and external stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery in the VRB’s DRCA jurisdiction.
• Ensure support to the Principal Member is delivered in accordance with legislative, financial and governance requirements.

• Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
• All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
• The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
