The Copper Smelter and Mount Isa Community

The Mount Isa Copper smelter is one of two Copper Smelters in Australia. We process over a 1,000,000 tonnes of Copper Concentrate per year from both our own mines and from sources all over the country and globe.

No matter where you live in Mount Isa its always a short commute to work; Mount Isa has a barramundi stocked lake and is surrounded by camping and 4WD opportunities. Mount Isa has a large sporting community, gyms as well as plenty of leisure activities and heaps of events including the biggest rodeo in the Southern Hemisphere.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Preventative & Statutory maintenanceBreakdowns & Fault findingContinuous improvement of the Electrical InfrastructureWorking within a team environmentContributing to the flow of copper from one of only two Australian Copper Smelters

What we need from you:

Trade qualification – Electrician with an equivalent Queensland Electrical Mechanic LicenseAn eye for detail and a want for high work qualitySafety as a core personal valueThe ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively

Nice to Have’s:

Industrial process control, instrumentation maintenance and calibrationsLV/HV Motors, VVVF drives, HV switchgear/switching, turbines and synchronous machinesYokogawa Centum VP DCS and Allen Bradley PLCs (or have had exposure to similar control systems)Cert 3 or 4 in InstrumentationFixed plant maintenance
