About the role
Energy Logistix (ELX) is seeking highly organised and safety‑driven Supply Base Officers to support freight, inventory and compliance operations for the Varanus Island Hub—one of Australia’s most unique logistics environments. As a Class A Nature Reserve and offshore gas processing facility, Varanus Island requires exceptional attention to detail, strict quarantine and biosecurity control and disciplined freight coordination.
This role is central to maintaining reliable supply to the Island, protecting environmental integrity and upholding ELX’s Mission Zero safety culture. You will work closely with the supply base team, marine and helicopter transport providers, Santos site personnel and the Operations Manager WA to ensure freight movements are accurate, compliant and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate all inbound and outbound freight, backloads and equipment movements to and from Varanus Island via vessel and helicopter
Conduct strict quarantine and biosecurity inspections in accordance with Class A Nature Reserve requirements
Prepare, verify and maintain accurate dangerous goods (DG) documentation, manifests, con notes, PODs and all freight paperwork via SAP4Hana
Maintain precise warehouse, inventory and stock records, ensuring GR/GI and system updates are completed within required timeframes using clients SAP systems
Liaise with Perth Supply base to confirm freight bookings, schedules, and cut‑off times
Review freight schedules, backload plans and inventory levels to align with upcoming Island operational requirements
Audit quarantine, DG and freight documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with Santos site and CoR obligations
Coordinate supply base requirements with the Operations Manager WA and site personnel, ensuring reliable and timely support for offshore operations
Prepare and submit monthly supply base reports covering freight performance, compliance metrics and inventory KPIs
Maintain high standards of supply base and warehouse cleanliness, organisation and safety, reporting any hazards, discrepancies, or compliance issues immediately
Participate in Toolbox meetings, Pre‑starts, Stack/Huddle meetings and Mission Zero safety leadership activities
Attend required training, refresher courses, and licence/ticket currency checks to maintain compliance and operational capability
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across freight coordination, inventory management, and supply base operations
Requirements & Qualifications
A current approved Offshore Medical Certificate or fitness-to-work assessment
A current BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training)
Experience in freight coordination, warehousing, or supply base logistics—ideally in oil & gas, with SAP4Hana experience
Working knowledge of dangerous goods (DG) documentation and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
Understanding of quarantine/biosecurity requirements for island/offshore environments (or willingness to learn)
Strong administrative, inventory management and communication skills
Commitment to safety, compliance and environmental protection
Willingness to work a FIFO roster and travel to Varanus Island via vessel or helicopter
