About the role
Rottnest Bakery is looking for Baking Superstars, working and living on Rottnest Island, where it’s beautiful one day, spectacular the next.
Our bakery team work together to produce high-quality artisan breads from scratch, and our success depends on delivering the best customer experience we can. If you are energetic, outgoing, enjoy working in a team and most importantly have an “Of Course Attitude” then this is the role for you.
Ahead of our peak season, we have an opportunity for an experienced Baker as well as a Bakery Assistant. Whilst experienced Bakers must have a strong understanding of Scratch Baking methods, as a Bakery Assistant you'll be able to work alongside our qualified Bakers to learn and develop your baking experience.
These are permanent full-time salaried position offered with heavily subsidised accommodation to support the requirement to live on the Island. These roles require regular shift work with midnight start times, giving you the opportunity to enjoy day time life on the Island.
Skills/experience:
A Qualified Baker with strong scratch baking experience and an extensive knowledge of artisan bread, pastries and sourdough production
Strong understanding of fermentation, proofing and baking techniques
For our Bakers Assistant you'll have a passion to grow a career in baking and previous experience in a fast-paced bakery or food preparation environment
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Key Responsibilities:
Following established recipes and traditional bread-making methods, with accuracy and care
Mix, scale, shape, and bake a wide range of artisan breads
Maintain quality control and presentation standards
Monitor proofing and baking stages to ensure product quality and consistency
Collaborate closely with a small, fast-paced team to meet production goals
