Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the world’s most highly regarded independent medical research organisations. Our research focuses on the four key areas impacting children’s health: cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology.
About the Role
The Research Assistant will join the Eye Genetics Research Unit, supporting innovative research into the genetic and molecular causes of eye disease and the development of next-generation therapies. Working both independently and collaboratively, the role contributes to laboratory research activities, data analysis, scientific reporting, and the advancement of sight-saving treatments for inherited retinal conditions.
Responsibilities
Hands-on experience in a research laboratory environment, including tissue culture techniques.Strong scientific research skills with the ability to generate, analyse and accurately record research data.Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Experience in human stem cell culture, retinal organoids, or advanced microscopy techniques will be highly regarded.
Qualifications
Degree in biomedical science, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
Required Skills
Strong scientific research skills.Ability to generate, analyse and accurately record research data.Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience in human stem cell culture.Experience in retinal organoids.Experience in advanced microscopy techniques.
