Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
About The Position
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Cost Engineer to join our team in Cooma. In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force behind supporting our Project Controls team in managing and controlling the project budget, costs, and forecasts. You will play a crucial part in monitoring risks, assessing changes, and assuring project estimates to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
As our Senior Cost Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will span across project controls, reporting, and commercial claims. Your key focus areas will include:
Project Controls: Proactively identifying trends and changes, developing cost estimates and time phasing, monitoring actual cost allocations and accruals, and preparing accurate variance analysis of actual costs vs. planned baselines. Risk & Change Management: Contributing to the risk management process by identifying potential cost and time impacts and advising on mitigation strategies. Contractor Collaboration: Reviewing contractor monthly/quarterly progress reports, program updates, and providing insight on contract performance to prevent cost overruns. Reporting: Developing project control dashboards and supporting critical corporate, board, and shareholder reporting without 'fear or favour'. Claims: Reviewing variations, site instructions, and claims to advise on budget and estimate-at-completion impacts
About the location:
This position is located at our Project Head Office in Cooma, NSW. We can look at a Monday to Friday FIFO arrangement or potential relocation for the right candidat
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially astute professional who thrives in a complex, major-infrastructure environment. You will bring:
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Project Controls, Project Management, or Quantity Surveying. Experience: A background in project controls or cost control with experience in a senior capacity, preferably on major infrastructure projects. Technical Skills: Demonstrated working knowledge of project controls systems and tools—experience with Prism G2 is highly preferred. (You will be a SME for all things Prism) Analytical Prowess: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous eye for detail. Communication: Excellent business engagement skills with the ability to confidently communicate commercial, project, and risk matters to a wide range of stakeholders, from site teams to executive directors.
