Draftsperson/Designer

About the Role

Join our dynamic team at FSI Engineering Pty Ltd as we experience rapid growth across our project division. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical / Structural Draftsperson to report directly to the Design Manager.

FSI Engineering delivers comprehensive turnkey solutions across various industries, including water treatment, construction, concrete, food, and general material handling for clients across Australia and New Zealand.

In this role, you will be involved in designing and developing detailed shop drawings for projects including (but not limited to):

• Silos and Hoppers

• Weigh Bins and Loss-in-Weight Systems

• Chemical Storage and Dosing Systems

• Batching and Mixing Tanks

• Access Platforms and Structural Steel

Key Responsibilities

• Perform 3D CAD modeling and design development.

• Produce accurate general arrangement (GA) and detailed fabrication shop drawings.

• Read and interpret complex mechanical and structural engineering drawings.

• Conduct site visits and accurate field measurements when required.

• Ensure all designs and drafts comply with Australian Standards and client specifications.

• Peer-review team members' drawings for accuracy and quality assurance.

• Liaise directly with clients and project stakeholders.

About You

• Education: Engineering Drafting Certificate or Diploma (a Mechanical/Structural Engineering degree is highly advantageous).

• Experience: 5–8+ years of proven engineering drafting experience in material handling or processing plants.

• Software Proficiency:

  • Basic to intermediate experience in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software.

  • Proficient in Advance Steel.

  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Vault.

• Skills: Strong understanding of structural/mechanical fabrication, high attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
