Shipwrights Australia are looking to expand our team and we are currently seeking a motivated Apprentice Shipwright who is passionate about the trade and eager to develop high-level skills in custom marine construction and maintenance.

We handle a diverse range of high-quality marine projects, offering the successful candidate hands-on experience under the guidance of qualified tradespeople.

What We Do

​At Shipwrights Australia, we pride ourselves on merging traditional shipwright craftsmanship with modern maritime technologies. Our projects span the full spectrum of high-end marine service, meaning an apprentice with us will gain invaluable, well-rounded experience working on:

• Custom Vessel Modifications & Refits: Structural changes, modern composite upgrades, and custom installations (such as custom hardtops and pod setups).
• Modern Composite Construction: Advanced fibreglass laminating and repair using various resin systems (epoxy, vinylester, and polyester).
• Traditional Timber Craftsmanship: Fine marine woodworking, joinery, and structural timber restorations on classic vessels.
• Comprehensive Maintenance & Structural Repairs: High-level maintenance, hull repairs, and osmosis treatment for both sailing yachts and commercial vessels.

Key Requirements & Experience:

• Tool Competency: Solid confidence and safe handling of both hand and power tools.
• Work Ethic: The ability to work cohesively within a tight-knit team, as well as the initiative to take on tasks independently when required.
• Reliability: Must have a valid driver’s licence and reliable transport to get to work and site locations.

• Basic woodworking skills or an eye for precision and detail.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety (WHS).
• A proactive attitude and a willingness to take pride in their craftsmanship.
