Southern Cross Care Tasmania is expanding our Extended Care Assistant casual pool across North/North West Tasmania, and we're looking for compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic ECAs to join our residential aged care teams.

We're strengthening our casual workforce ahead of a busy period across October and November, with further opportunities anticipated throughout the Christmas and New Year leave period and beyond.

Availability – 11 October to 15 November 2026

For this recruitment campaign, we're particularly seeking ECAs with strong availability between 11 October and 15 November 2026.

We anticipate increased workforce requirements during this period and are looking for people who can provide flexibility across a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, nights and weekends.

Applicants will be asked to confirm their availability across this period as part of the recruitment process.

Available over Christmas and New Year too? Even better. We expect further casual opportunities across the summer leave period and beyond.

About the opportunity

As an Extended Care Assistant, you'll work alongside our nursing and care teams to provide safe, respectful and person-centred care to our residents.

You'll support residents with their individual care needs while promoting independence, dignity, choice and quality of life.

Depending on your location and availability, there may also be opportunities to work across multiple Northern services.

About you

We're looking for people who:

• Must hold the relevant qualification to work as an ECA in aged care and have relevant experience applying that qualification in practice.
• Have a genuine commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
• Communicate respectfully and work well as part of a team.
• Are reliable, adaptable and flexible across a variety of shifts.
• Have strong availability between 11 October and 15 November 2026.
• Are interested in continuing casual work across Christmas/New Year and potentially beyond.

Previous experience working in aged care will be highly regarded.

Please note that availability to attend the Recruitment & Assessment Day will form part of the recruitment process. Further details, including the date, time and location, will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to bring relevant identification, qualifications and compliance documentation to the Recruitment & Assessment Day to support a streamlined recruitment and onboarding process. RNs will also be required to provide evidence of current AHPRA registration (where applicable).

Pre-employment assessment

As part of our recruitment process, shortlisted candidates for this position will be required to complete a pre-employment assessment with our independent assessment provider. The assessment is designed to confirm your ability to safely meet the inherent requirements of the role and to identify any reasonable adjustments or support that may be required.
