About the Role

We are seeking two School Psychologists to join our Wellbeing team in 2027, supporting the mental health, wellbeing and development of students across Middle and Senior School.

We have the following opportunities available:

• School Psychologist – 0.1 FTE  12-month maximum-term contract
• School Psychologist – 0.6 FTE 6-month maximum-term contract

Working closely with the Director of Wellbeing and School leadership, you will provide high-quality psychological support, counselling, assessment and intervention for students across the Middle and Senior School years.

You will work collaboratively with students, families, teachers and external health professionals to ensure students receive appropriate and responsive support.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the wellbeing and educational experience of young people within a supportive and collaborative school environment.

Key Focus Areas

• Provide individual and group counselling and psychological support to students across Middle and Senior School.
• Assess, identify and respond to students experiencing mental health, wellbeing, behavioural or learning challenges.
• Administer and interpret appropriate psychometric and clinical assessments and provide clear reports and recommendations.
• Case manage students with significant wellbeing and mental health concerns, including supporting transitions and referrals to external services.
• Work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, Access and Inclusion staff, School leadership and external clinicians to develop appropriate support and interventions.
• Facilitate group programs addressing areas such as resilience, social skills, emotional regulation and anger management.
• Contribute to the pastoral care and wellbeing of students across the Middle and Senior Schools.
• Develop and deliver relevant information sessions and professional learning for students, parents and staff.
• Support applications for reasonable adjustments and contribute to inclusive practices.
• Participate in the Crisis Response Team, professional supervision and the broader co-curricular life of the School.
• Promote a strong child-safe culture and ensure all safeguarding and mandatory reporting responsibilities are upheld.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

The successful applicants will have:

• Appropriate qualifications in Psychology and registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Substantial experience in counselling and psychological support, ideally with children and young people.
• Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment, including the administration and interpretation of psychometric assessments.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff and external professionals.
• Strong case management and clinical communication skills.
• A commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion and child safety.
• Experience working within a school setting is desirable.
• The ability to contribute positively to a collaborative Wellbeing team.
• An ability to engage respectfully with and support the values and philosophy of The Friends’ School.
