Join the ACE Training teamACE Training is looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Trainer & Assessor to join our growing team, primarily working across our Geelong and Werribee training locations.
ACE Training, together with sister company MultiSkills Training, is one of Victoria's established providers of industry-based vocational training. We deliver Heavy Vehicle licensing, High Risk Work licensing, Civil Construction and a broad range of accredited and employer-specific training across Victoria.
We're looking for someone who knows the transport industry, enjoys working with people and takes pride in developing safe and capable heavy vehicle drivers.
The RoleThis is a hands-on training and assessment position focused on delivery of VicRoads Heavy Vehicle licensing programs
You will primarily work between our Geelong and Werribee locations, with occasional work at Ballarat when operationally required.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering engaging Heavy Vehicle training across relevant licence categories
Conducting Heavy Vehicle licence assessments in accordance with VicRoads requirements
Providing a professional and supportive experience for students
Completing training and assessment records accurately and on time
Conducting vehicle pre-start checks and promptly reporting faults or maintenance requirements
Maintaining training vehicles, facilities and resources in a clean, safe and serviceable condition
Working collaboratively with the wider ACE Training team
Maintaining current industry knowledge and trainer/assessor requirements
We're looking for an experienced transport professional who combines strong Heavy Vehicle skills with the ability to communicate, teach and work effectively as part of a team.
You will ideally have:
Current Heavy Combination driver's licence, including non-synchromesh competency
Recent and relevant Heavy Vehicle industry experience
VicRoads Heavy Vehicle Licence Testing Officer accreditation, or the ability to obtain the required accreditation
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or recognised equivalent); or
The following individual training and assessment units:
TAEASS412 – Assess competence
TAEDEL311 – Provide work skill instruction
TAEDEL411 – Facilitate vocational training
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A professional and safety-focused approach
Good organisational and administrative skills
The ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team
Current or ability to obtain required Working with Children and Police Checks
Australian working rights
For this position, preference will be given to candidates who already hold the required training and assessment qualifications and can meet the requirements for VicRoads Heavy Vehicle Licence Testing Officer accreditation.
ACE Training supports the development of experienced industry professionals into training and assessment roles through our broader trainer development pathway. However, due to the operational requirements of this particular position, candidates who are already appropriately qualified or require only limited additional development will be strongly preferred.
