Cracker of a Packer

About the role

Principally responsible for weighing, recording and packing and picking of meat products for immediate and future dispatch. You may also need to assist in other areas of production as and when required.

Key responsibilities

• Weigh, record and pack meat products for immediate and future dispatch

• Work quickly and efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines

• Observe shift operating hours as scheduled or assigned by Manager, including early shifts starting at 3.00AM Monday and Friday, 4.00AM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and occasional Saturday and second shift starting at 5.30-6.30 am starts

• Work up to 8 hours a day with regular overtime, often exceeding 10 hours per week during busy times

• Adhere to all local, state, and national health code regulations

• Know and comply with techniques used to store and handle raw meat products

• Follow approved procedures for weighing, packing and scanning meat products

• Contribute to controlling freshness and product quality including continual ongoing quality inspection of goods before packing/dispatch

• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company Policy

• Maintain a clean and safe work area

About you

• High school education or equivalent

• Willing to learn and be trained for the position

• Knowledge of wholesale picking and packing of meat, food safety and security, food production/processing and of the machines used to pack meat

• Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, twist, carry/lift 20kgs, and push/pull 20kg

• Able to work in a chilled working environment with noise and slippery floors
