About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be the trusted advisor on governance, risk and integrity across the organisation. You'll work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors, shaping the frameworks that keep Council compliant, accountable and effective.
Providing high-level governance, risk and compliance advice to the CEO, Executive Team and Councillors

Coordinating Council, Local Authority and Committee meetings, including agendas, minutes, resolutions and follow-up
Ensuring compliance with the NT Local Government Act 2019 and all related legislative obligations
Providing secretariat support to the Audit and Risk Committee
Coordinating governance training and induction for Councillors and Local Authority Members
Facilitating community consultation to support Council's Regional Plan and strategic priorities
This role has genuine influence, and your advice shapes decisions at the highest level of Council.
A tertiary qualification in governance, public administration, business, law or a related field (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
Strong knowledge of the NT Local Government Act 2019, or the ability to get across it fast
Experience providing secretariat support to a Council, CEO or Committees
Sharp organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication, including policy drafting and stakeholder engagement
Integrity, sound judgement and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
A genuine appreciation for Indigenous culture and experience — or willingness to live and work — in remote communities
A current NT driver licence
Total package from $136,288 (base salary from $119,531)
12% superannuation
6 weeks annual leave
17.5% leave loading
Additional Benefits:
Phone allowance
Laptop
Free uniforms
Employee assistance program
Study assistance
If you're based in Jabiru, it gets even better:
Furnished accommodation at heavily subsidised rent
Relocation assistance to get you there
Remote locality allowance
Free family access to the pool and gym
Free community fitness classes, after-school kids' programs, local events, sports competitions, big-screen movie nights and more
Jabiru sits on the doorstep of Kakadu National Park — one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world. It's a genuine tree-change (or career-change) with a real community feel, and this package is built to make the move easy.
