Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a vacancy that exists for the role of a Vulcaniser. Reporting to the Supervisor Asset Support, you will be responsible for undertaking conveyor belt repairs, replacements, and inspections in areas such as smelters, concentrators, crushing plants and underground, whilst displaying a strong commitment to safety.

This position is residentially based in Mount Isa on a family friendly 4/4/4/2 roster.

This position would see you responsible for:

Reporting in relation to the condition of belts and associated components of the conveyorSolid standard of workmanship with splicing fabric belts, lagging conveyor drums and occasionally rubber lining pipes and chutes

The successful candidate will possess:

Belt Splicer / Cert III Polymer Processing trade certificatePrevious heavy industry experience would be an advantageSuitable level of experience and knowledge in material handling for conveyors and related components, working as a belt splicerExperience in troubleshooting operational issues for conveyors, rigging, operating winches and windersPreferred experience in the use of solvents, adhesives and mechanically fastenersHR truck license and forklift ticket would also be an advantageValid manual driver’s licenseFlexible attitude and sound work ethicExcellent time management skills and the ability to achieve results within the specified time framesStrong customer service along with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work well within a team environment or with minimal supervision
