About the role
Syndicate Communications Pty Ltd – Perth / Western Australia
Syndicate Communications is a leading Australian telecommunications contractor delivering projects and network services for some of Australia’s leading telecommunications customers, including Optus, Telstra and TPG.
With a long history in the Australian telecommunications industry and operations across multiple states, our Western Australian operation is continuing to grow.
We are currently looking for experienced Telecommunications Technicians and NSW Licensed Electricians to join our NSW team.
We are interested in hearing from experienced telecommunications technicians as well as qualified electricians looking to work within the telecommunications, communications infrastructure and critical network environment.
Our WA team delivers a broad range of telecommunications installation, electrical, transmission, fibre, power, maintenance and network project work.
Depending on your skills and experience, your work may include:
Telecommunications equipment installation and commissioning
Telecommunications exchange and network infrastructure
AC and DC electrical works
DC telecommunications power systems
Equipment racks, cabinets and associated infrastructure
Fibre and copper cabling
Optical fibre splicing and testing
Transmission equipment
Routers, switches and network equipment
Equipment upgrades and replacements
Network maintenance and fault rectification
Testing and commissioning
Equipment and infrastructure decommissioning
You will work across customer telecommunications facilities, exchanges and other network sites throughout the Perth metropolitan area, with opportunities for regional WA work as required.
Depending on your qualifications and experience, responsibilities may include:
Interpret construction, electrical, telecommunications and design packs
Complete installations in accordance with customer specifications and Australian Standards
Install and construct telecommunications infrastructure
Install telecommunications equipment, racks, cabinets, routers, switches and transmission equipment
Undertake AC and DC electrical installation works
Install and maintain telecommunications DC power systems
Install, terminate, label and test electrical, copper and fibre cabling
Undertake optical fibre splicing and testing where qualified
Carry out testing, commissioning and integration
Diagnose faults and equipment malfunctions
Undertake maintenance, repairs, upgrades and equipment replacement
Complete equipment and network decommissioning works
Complete as-built documentation, DBoR, TNI and customer asset records
Accurately record installed, removed and existing customer assets
Participate in site planning, pre-starts, toolbox meetings, SWMS and JSA processes
Follow customer WINS, MOPS, Hazard Permits and site procedures
Liaise with Supervisors, Project Managers, customers and other technicians
Maintain a safe, clean and professional worksite
Comply with Syndicate Communications and customer WHS, environmental, quality and security requirements
For our Telecommunications Technician positions, experience in several of the following areas would be highly regarded:
Telecommunications exchange environments
ISAM and DSLAM equipment
SDH, DWDM and transmission networks
Exchange cabling including Cat 5, Cat 6 and fibre
Telstra DBoR systems and access
Optical fibre splicing and testing
Telecommunications rack and ironwork construction
Telstra infrastructure standards including CN1234
DC telecommunications power systems
Cable installation and termination
Telecommunications equipment installation
Equipment testing and commissioning
Network maintenance and fault rectification
Equipment recovery and decommissioning
We are also looking for WA Licensed Electricians to join our telecommunications project teams.
Previous telecommunications experience is highly regarded but is not essential for the right electrician.
Electricians with experience in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
Commercial or industrial electrical installations
Telecommunications facilities or data centres
AC and DC power systems
Switchboards and distribution systems
Electrical equipment installation and replacement
Cable installation, termination and testing
Equipment racks and cabinets
UPS and battery systems
Electrical maintenance and fault finding
Testing and commissioning
Electrical infrastructure upgrades
Critical infrastructure environments
Training and exposure to telecommunications-specific systems and customer requirements can be provided to suitable candidates.
We are looking for people who take pride in their workmanship and can work safely and professionally in live telecommunications and critical infrastructure environments.
You will have:
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
A current Australian driver's licence
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Good communication and customer liaison skills
High attention to detail and quality of workmanship
The ability to read and interpret drawings, designs and construction packs
The ability to accurately complete electronic and written site documentation
The ability to work independently as well as part of a project team
A professional approach when working on customer sites
Relevant qualifications may include:
Registered Cabler licence
Construction Industry White Card
Telecommunications industry competencies and customer accreditations
Fibre splicing and testing competencies
Current Australian driver's licence
Applicants for electrical positions must hold:
Current NSW Electrical Workers Licence
Construction Industry White Card
Current Australian driver's licence
Additional telecommunications, communications, fibre, data centre, DC power or customer accreditations will be highly regarded.
