About the role
The Great Stupa is seeking a Maintenance/Project Assistant to join our team on a casual basis. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on varied maintenance and project tasks in a supportive environment.
Reporting directly to the Works Coordinator, you will play a vital role in keeping our facilities and grounds looking their absolute best. Whether you are tackling general repairs, tending to the grounds, or helping to bring exciting new installations to life, every day offers a variety of hands-on projects.
What you'll be doing
General Maintenance & Projects
Perform general repairs and maintenance across existing buildings and structures.
Paint donation boxes and other site structures.
Assist with the development, creation, and execution of brand-new installations and ongoing projects as delegated by the Works Supervisor.
Collaborate with the Events Team to assist with bump-in and bump-out for festivals, functions, and community events.
Grounds Maintenance
Operate essential outdoor equipment, including mowers, whipper-snippers, and leaf blowers.
Carry out routine vegetation management, such as weed removal and general tidying to keep outdoor spaces pristine.
Equipment & Workplace Safety
Safely operate, handle, and maintain tools and machinery.
Strictly adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines to ensure a secure environment for all staff and visitors.
Uphold the core policies and procedures of the Great Stupa.
What we're looking for
Skills & Experience Required
Basic working knowledge of carpentry, painting, and general equipment operation.
Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage your time effectively.
Physically capable of performing manual labor tasks, including heavy lifting and the operation of power tools.
Previous experience in maintenance, general labouring, or construction work is highly desirable
Reliability and a strong work ethic
Willingness to learn and take direction well
Basic health and safety awareness
Good communication skills and a positive attitude
