Excavator Operator – Screw Piling & Construction

Are you an experienced excavator operator looking for a full-time, long-term role with a well-established construction company?

Piling Victoria is one of Victoria's established screw piling contractors, providing foundation solutions across the residential, commercial and civil construction sectors.

We are looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our installation team. You'll operate a range of machinery to install steel screw piles and carry out excavation and foundation works on a variety of projects throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria.

The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday work when required. From time to time, projects may also require regional travel and overnight stays away from home.

Previous screw piling experience is preferred, but not essential – we'll provide the training.

What You'll Be Doing

This isn't just a job sitting in an excavator all day. You'll take responsibility for your jobs and work with your crew to get sites completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Operating and carrying out basic maintenance on a range of excavators

• Installing steel screw piles

• Transporting machinery, piles and equipment to site

• Reading plans, engineering drawings and site levels

• Setting out and marking pile locations

• Digging strip footings and slotted piers

• Drilling holes and piers

• General excavation and site preparation

• Cutting steel screw piles using grinders and oxy/acetylene equipment

• Completing piling installation records and site documentation

• Directing and assisting junior crew members

• Taking responsibility for the quality and completion of your work

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who knows their way around a construction site and can be trusted to get the job done.

You must have:

• Excavator competency/licence with at least 2 years' operating experience

• Current Construction Industry White Card

• Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's licence – manual/synchro

• Current Working With Children Check

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and engineering drawings

• Ability to understand site levels and confidently use laser levels

• Flexibility to work an occasional Saturday

• Ability to undertake occasional regional work requiring overnight stays away from home

You'll also need to be:

• Reliable and self-motivated

• Safety conscious

• Comfortable working with minimal supervision

• A good communicator

• Able to work as part of a small crew

• Willing to get out of the machine and help when required

• Someone who takes pride in doing a job properly

Previous construction, civil, earthmoving or piling experience will be highly regarded.

Never Installed Screw Piles?

That's OK.

If you're a capable excavator operator with the right attitude and construction experience, we can teach you screw piling.

You'll receive practical training in our piling equipment, installation procedures and reporting requirements.

What We Offer

• $80,000 – $100,000+ per year, depending on experience
