About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Risk Advisory, you'll be a key member of the Line 1 Risk and Controls Advisory team supporting Hollard's Finance function. In this business facing operational risk advisory role, you'll partner closely with senior leaders, managers and their teams, being the go-to person our leaders turn to when something comes up. You'll provide practical advice and hands on support across risk identification, evaluation, mitigation, escalations and risk acceptance decisions.
In this role, you'll be primarily focused on operational risk, controls, incidents, issues, delivered risk, control ownership and risk maturity uplift within the Finance Function. It requires sharp judgement, strong stakeholder influence and a knack for keeping risk practical.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the embedded Line 1 operational risk partner for Finance, building trusted relationships, providing practical advice and constructive challenge
Provide hands-on support across operational risk activities, including risk assessments, control reviews, incident and issue management, risk reporting and risk maturity uplift initiatives
Support Finance stakeholders to identify practical control improvements and clarify ownership of risks, controls, issues, actions and remediation plans
Provide insight driven reporting and collaborate with Line 2 and Line 3 teams for consistent application of risk frameworks
Conduct risk assessments across projects and business changes, including Risk in Change, Partner/Supplier and Uncapped Indemnity assessments.
About You
Demonstrated experience in Line 1 risk management, operational risk, business risk advisory and/or control assurance within the financial services industry; general insurance experience is strongly preferred
Confidence to engage, influence and constructively challenge senior stakeholders
Ability to facilitate quarterly risk forums and complete BAU control testing independently
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Economics, Finance, Risk Management or Law are desirable
Strong control mindset, including understanding of operational controls, reconciliations, approvals, segregation of duties, manual processes, issue management, remediation actions and control ownership
