What you will do

As FAS senior assessor, you will lead a team that assesses applications for financial assistance under the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme.

You will support consistent, fair and trauma-informed decisions while helping deliver a new service for victims of crime.

You will:

• assess complex applications and review decisions under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022
• prepare clear reasons for decisions and help improve assessment processes
• provide specialist advice to support victim recognition statements and application assessments
• guide and support assessors to deliver high-quality, timely and victim-centred decisions
• promote cultural safety, continuous improvement and respectful service for all applicants.

About you

A relevant tertiary qualification in community and social services, social policy, social work, law, public administration or a related field is desirable. Equivalent experience will also be considered.

You should also have:

• strong leadership experience managing complex assessment work
• sound knowledge of trauma-informed practice, family violence risk and culturally safe services
• excellent judgement, communication and decision-making skills
• proven ability to lead teams, improve processes and deliver fair outcomes.
