About the role
About the Role
We grow tomatoes, zucchinis, capsicums and melons across a 12-month production cycle, and we're looking for a Field Operator to work across the machinery, irrigation and fertigation side of the operation. It's suited to someone with some existing experience in farm machinery or irrigation, or someone newer who is genuinely keen to learn and progress. You'll start on the basics and build towards operating some of our larger, higher-value equipment as your skills, reliability and confidence develop.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Machinery Operation
Operating tractors and towed implements for cultivation, spraying, mulching and produce transport
Operating utility vehicles, forklifts and other on-farm machinery as competency is demonstrated
Progressing, with training, to our larger and more specialised farm equipment
Carrying out routine pre-start checks, basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery
Reporting faults, wear and mechanical issues promptly to the supervisor
General
Pitching in with general field work and crop care tasks as required — this includes occasionally working alongside the field worker team, particularly during peak periods. This is a working role, not a supervisory one, and getting stuck in with the team when needed is part of the job
Working safely around machinery, chemicals and pressurised systems, and following all WHS procedures
Working cooperatively with the field worker team and reporting to the Farm Supervisor
What We're Looking For
Fit, healthy and physically able to perform manual and machinery-based outdoor work
Able and willing to work long days when required, including early starts and weekend work during peak periods
Either prior experience operating farm machinery, irrigation or fertigation systems, OR a genuine willingness to learn and progress into these responsibilities from the ground up
Careful, methodical and safety-conscious around machinery, chemicals and pressurised equipment
Reliable, punctual and able to commit to rostered shifts
Full working rights in Australia
Desirable (not required to start, but the goal for progression)
• Experience driving tractors or other agricultural machinery
• Current forklift licence, heavy vehicle licence, or chemical handling/spray certification
• Basic mechanical aptitude or maintenance experience
Pay & Conditions
Paid in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020 at the classification level appropriate to the machinery and systems you are competent and authorised to operate, including applicable casual loading, overtime and penalty rates where relevant
Year-round work — we run a 12-month growing cycle, no off-season
Full-time hours available during peak periods; genuine ongoing work for reliable staff who want to stay long-term
Please note that this role does not offer visa sponsorship.
To be shortlisted, applicants must be ready and available to work in the Bundaberg Region or the Wide Bay area.
