About the role

Stuart Park Surgery is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in Darwin NT 0800. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing essential nursing support to our general practice. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, assisting our medical team, and ensuring our clinic operates smoothly. This position is perfect for healthcare professionals seeking flexible working arrangements whilst making a meaningful contribution to patient outcomes in the Northern Territory.

Key responsibilities

• Providing direct patient care under the supervision of general practitioners, including assessments, observations and treatment administration

• Taking patient vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiratory rate

• Assisting with minor procedures and wound management as required

• Administering medications and vaccinations as directed by the GP

• Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with healthcare standards

• Supporting the clinical team in ensuring a clean and safe working environment

• Communicating effectively with patients to provide education and reassurance regarding their care

• Assisting with specimen collection and preparation for testing

• Supporting infection control and health and safety protocols within the surgery

What we're looking for

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse

• A valid qualification in nursing recognised in Australia

• Current First Aid and CPR certification

• Experience working in a general practice or primary healthcare setting (preferred)

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare professionals and administrative staff

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

• A compassionate approach to patient care with a commitment to maintaining professional standards

• Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and evidence-based healthcare delivery

• Vaccination giving certificate (preferred)
