About the role
Multiple Positions: Graduate Engineer (Robotics) - Process or Controls
Build a career in the future of manufacturing
Become an expert in robotics and automation
Travel the world while earning an excellent salary plus overtime & travel
At Automated Solutions Australia we help our customers automate their manufacturing processes. In this role, you will be working within the paint process or controls group. You’ll be working with a team, designing and programming robotic painting systems, which we then install and maintain for customers around the world.
You’ll be joining a team of experienced Engineers that will train and support you. You’ll have the opportunity to grow professionally while seeing the world from our base in the Northern suburbs of Adelaide.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for improving our clients’ automotive painting process with robots. This begins with understanding their process so you can design the right solution. Then installing and maintaining their robotic painting system and supporting new product launches and upgrades.
As most of the work occurs on our customer’s site, this is a very hands-on role. In everything you do you’ll be working with our clients to find the best solutions for them. This takes initiative and a consultative approach. And the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a variety of people – from the factory floor to upper management.
Travel is not an occasional requirement of this role, it is critical and embedded into the role. The successful candidate will likely be travelling more often than not, spending significant time away from home and working across multiple locations in different countries. Candidates who thrive in highly mobile roles and are comfortable with extended travel schedules are most likely to succeed and enjoy this opportunity.
About You (The Kind of Person We're Looking For)
You’re someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and getting hands on. Whether it’s tinkering in the shed, pulling things apart to see how they work, or building something from scratch just for the fun of it, you’re driven by curiosity and love to problem solve. You’re comfortable using hand tools and naturally drawn to how machines operate. You’re more at home in overalls than behind a desk, but you also know your way around a computer. While this is a hands on role, there will be times you’ll be programming on screen, completing training, or interfacing with modern systems and that’s no problem for you. Maybe you’ve worked on the floor of a machine shop, or perhaps you’re fresh out of university with an engineering background and a passion for robotics, automation, or mechanical systems. Either way, you’re the kind of person who thrives on figuring things out and making them work. If you prefer steel caps to dress shoes and find satisfaction in both building with your hands and solving problems with your mind, we’d love to hear from you.
Requirements
We’ll fully train you, but the successful candidate will need to have the following attributes:
Mechanical/Robotic/Electrical Technical Aptitude – this might be from studying Mechatronics, Controls or Electrical Engineering, or experience working with hardware, electronics or software.
Capacity and willingness to undertake extensive travel, including frequent periods away from home
Demonstrates initiative and takes ownership of tasks and outcomes.
Proactively identifies opportunities, issues, and solutions without waiting for direction.
Highly organised and capable of managing priorities independently while working remotely and travelling.
Able to make sound decisions and take appropriate action in a dynamic environment.
Takes responsibility for follow through and consistently delivers on commitments.
Motivated to achieve individual and team goals while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional and confident in customer facing environments.
Strong ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships.
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage customer enquiries professionally.
Ability to represent the company positively and professionally while working independently in the field.
Hold or be eligible to hold an Australian passport. We require this for US Visas between our Australian and US entities.
Benefits
As the job requires a lot of travel, we do our best to make sure you have the support and flexibility you need. We will pay you well for your travel and overtime, or you'll have the opportunity to take time in lieu. When working from our office, there is the opportunity to work flexible hours and days.
This position is based in Adelaide, and when you’re not deployed overseas on a project or on approved leave, you’ll be expected to work from our Adelaide office.
Applying from outside South Australia? We’ll cover your relocation costs, but we do require you to have or be eligible for an Australian passport. We are unable to sponsor overseas applicants.
