• Clerk Grade 7/8, salary from $116,981 to $129,492 plus Super and leave loading

About the role

NSW Public Works (PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.

We are currently seeking an Urban and Regional Planner to join PW within the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). This position is with the Heritage, Environment and Planning (HEP) team within NSW PW.

The primary focus of this role is to deliver specialist strategic planning, master planning and precinct planning services that support the delivery of major public infrastructure and place-based projects across New South Wales. You will lead and coordinate the preparation of master plans, precinct plans, planning proposals and other strategic planning initiatives, while also contributing to the broader functions of the HEP team, including the preparation of environmental assessment documentation where required.

About You

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:

• Degree in Urban Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience coordinating and preparing master plans, precinct plans, structure plans, strategic plans and LEP amendments
• Strong understanding of NSW strategic planning framework, EP&A Act, LEPs, DCPs and SEPPs
• Experience in undertaking options analysis and developing strategic planning solutions
• Experience coordinating stakeholders and technical teams to deliver integrated project outcomes
• Experience reviewing technical studies supporting planning proposals
• Experience preparing environmental impact assessments is desirable
• Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD and SketchUp preferred, but not essential
• A valid NSW Driver’s license and willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays.
