About the role
Good people in construction are hard to find. We’re looking for a few of them.
Indetail Projects is growing our site team and we’re looking for experienced, practical people who take pride in their work and like being part of a job that is properly run.
We deliver high-quality commercial fit-outs across Melbourne, including hospitality, retail and workplace projects.
Our jobs are detailed, fast-moving and varied. One week you might be working on a high-end retail fit-out, the next a hospitality project, office or maintenance call.
We’re currently interested in hearing from:
Site Managers
Site Carpenters
Shopfitters
Apprentice Shopfitters
Maintenance / Multi-Skilled Tradespeople
Labourers
You might be an experienced Site Manager who knows how to take control of a job.
You might be a carpenter or shopfitter who can read a drawing, solve problems and produce quality work without needing someone standing over you.
You might be an apprentice looking to learn commercial fit-out properly and become a well-rounded tradesperson.
You might be a good all-rounder who enjoys maintenance, defects, small works and getting things sorted.
Or you might be a reliable labourer who turns up, works hard, thinks ahead and wants to become a bigger part of a construction team.
If you’re good at what you do, we want to hear from you.
About Indetail ProjectsWe are a Melbourne-based commercial fit-out company delivering detailed hospitality, retail and workplace projects.
We’re hands-on, practical and straight forward in the way we work.
We like people who take ownership, communicate properly and deal with problems when they see them rather than walking past them.
Our sites should be organised, safe and presentable, and everyone onsite should know what they are there to achieve.
Site ManagersWe are looking for Site Managers who actually manage the site.
You’ll be responsible for the daily control and coordination of the project, including subcontractors, Indetail Projects carpenters, safety, quality, housekeeping, deliveries and short-term planning.
You need to understand the programme, know what needs to happen next and keep trades moving.
We want someone who:
Takes control of the site rather than waiting to be told what to do
Can coordinate subcontractors and internal labour
Understands commercial fit-out sequencing
Reads drawings and picks up coordination issues early
Plans labour, materials, fixings and consumables ahead of time
Keeps the site safe, clean and organised
Identifies poor quality or incomplete work while the trade is still there
Communicates clearly with the Project Manager and project team
Can get on the tools when required without losing control of the site
A trade background, particularly carpentry or shopfitting, would be highly regarded.
Carpenters & ShopfittersWe are looking for good tradespeople who understand commercial fit-out.
The work can include:
Framing
Doors and hardware
Joinery installation
Wall panelling and feature finishes
Skirtings, trims and finishing work
General carpentry and shopfitting
Defect and rectification work
Site protection and preparation
Helping get projects across the line for handover
We’re not looking for someone who only wants to do one particular type of work.
Fit-out changes every day. We want people who can look at what needs to be done, work it out and get into it.
Quality matters to us. So does productivity.
The job should be done properly the first time, not left at 90% for someone else to finish.
Apprentice ShopfittersWe’re also interested in hearing from apprentices who want to learn commercial fit-out properly and build a broad range of skills.
You might already be part-way through your apprenticeship, or you may be early in your trade career and looking for the right environment to develop.
Our work is varied and can include framing, doors, hardware, joinery installation, panelling, finishing, maintenance and general fit-out work.
You’ll work alongside experienced carpenters, shopfitters and Site Managers and get exposure to a wide range of commercial projects.
We’re looking for apprentices who:
Turn up and are reliable
Want to learn
Take pride in their work
Listen and ask questions
Look after tools, materials and finished work
Are willing to have a go
Want to become a capable, well-rounded tradesperson
You don’t need to know everything. That’s the point of an apprenticeship.
What matters is attitude, effort and being willing to learn properly.
Maintenance / Multi-Skilled TradespeopleThis role would suit a good all-rounder who enjoys solving problems.
Our completed projects occasionally require maintenance, defects, adjustments, repairs and small works.
That could mean attending a site, working out what the actual problem is, completing the repair yourself or helping organise what is needed to get it resolved.
You need to be presentable, practical and comfortable dealing with clients in finished and sometimes live environments.
We’re interested in people who have a broad skill set rather than someone limited to one trade task.
If you’re the sort of person people call because “you’ll work it out”, we’d like to talk to you.
LabourersWe also want reliable labourers who understand that a good labourer is more than someone carrying materials around.
You may be assisting trades, preparing work areas, receiving deliveries, protecting finished surfaces, moving materials, cleaning up, helping with defects and doing whatever is reasonably needed to keep the job moving.
The main things we want are:
Reliability
A good work ethic
Common sense
Willingness to learn
Care around finished work
Ability to work as part of a team
A good attitude onsite
If you’re looking to learn commercial fit-out and develop your skills, there may be room to grow with us.
What we valueWhatever role you’re applying for, there are some things we expect from everyone.
Turn up and be reliable.
Take pride in what you do.
Look ahead rather than waiting for a problem.
Speak up if something isn’t right.
Look after the site and the people around you.
Finish the job properly.
We don't expect everyone to know everything.
We do expect people to take responsibility for their work, ask questions when they need to and care about the end result.
Why join Indetail Projects? You won’t be stuck doing the same thing every day.
Our work covers commercial fit-out, detailed interiors, project delivery, maintenance and smaller works across a range of projects and clients.
We’re building a stronger internal site team and there is genuine opportunity for the right people to take on more responsibility as the business grows.
If you’re ambitious, we want to give you somewhere to go.
If you’re experienced and just want to work with a good team on interesting projects, that’s fine too.
And if you’re somewhere in between, we’re happy to have the conversation.
How to applySend us your resume and a short note telling us:
What role you’re interested in
Your construction, carpentry, shopfitting or fit-out experience
What type of work you’ve been doing recently
When you’re available
Don’t worry if your CV isn’t perfect.
We’re more interested in finding good people than receiving a perfectly written application.
If you know commercial fit-out, care about your work and reckon you’d fit into a practical team that likes getting things done properly, we’d like to hear from you.
