About the role
Alexandria, Sydney | Full-time, permanent | $100,828 gross salary + superannuation | Paid weekly
Start date: mid to late September 2026. 1–2 weeks of structured handover and training provided.
2ND LIFE is a small but growing Sydney removals and circular economy business. We clear out homes, offices and community housing properties, and make sure anything still usable gets rehomed instead of dumped.
We currently run 20–25 jobs a week, with up to three trucks operating on busy days. Our team is distributed across Australia, the Philippines and Argentina, with our core operations based in Sydney.
This is not a maintenance roleThe business is changing quickly. Our operating model, systems, contractor structure, pricing and processes are all evolving.
We are looking for an intrapreneur. Someone who sees a problem, finds a better way, implements it and takes ownership of the result.
Our field crews are currently individual contractors and we supply the trucks. We are moving towards a model where we engage complete crews who bring their own vehicles.
You will help build that transition, put it in place and then run it.
You will work closely with the Director and have genuine autonomy. The right person can grow into significantly broader responsibility, potentially into a General Manager role as the business grows.
The day to dayBuild the weekly roster and allocate crews to jobs
Recruit, onboard and manage contractors, including licences, working rights and ABN checks
Run dispatch and follow jobs through to completion
Resolve issues in the field, including delays, cancellations, access problems and underquoted jobs
Own the relationships that keep us moving: our vehicle hire provider, recycling centres, furniture resale and charity partners
Cover inbound sales calls when the commercial team is unavailable
Ensure jobs close properly, including photos, item capture and signed confirmation
Keep our community housing clients operating to contract standard
Track operational KPIs in Zoho and report weekly
Identify and implement operational improvements
Jump on a truck when required, including crew gaps, busy periods and training
Rubbish removal is physical work.
You will not spend your days on a truck, but you need to be comfortable doing the work when required. That can mean lifting and carrying rubbish or furniture, helping a crew complete a job, or getting on the truck to demonstrate the standard expected during training.
We expect our leaders to lead by example.
HoursMonday–Friday: 9:00am–4:00pm, with a 30-minute break
Saturday: 7:00am–12:30pm
38 hours per week.
You will also be reachable by phone while jobs are running. Any work performed outside your rostered hours is logged and paid.
What we are looking forExperience coordinating teams. You will be allocating and managing crews from your first week
Experience in logistics, transport, removals, dispatch or last mile
Strong written and verbal communication
Full working rights in Australia
Current Australian car licence
Comfortable with systems and technology. We use Zoho One
Strong commercial and relationship-management skills
You decide and check in afterwards, rather than waiting for direction. Small business, things change fast, and you need to be comfortable with that
Comfortable with physical work when required
Available for Saturday mornings
Strong use of AI tools
Own car
Experience managing subcontractors or casual workforces
Experience building or improving operational processes
Experience in a small or fast-growing business
Interest in waste reduction, reuse and the circular economy
$100,828 gross salary + superannuation, paid weekly
Permanent position
Desk at Workit Spaces in Alexandria, laptop and phone provided
Work directly alongside the Director
Genuine autonomy and decision-making authority
1–2 weeks of structured handover and training with the current Operations Coordinator
Performance bonus linked to KPIs, currently being developed
Opportunity to grow with the business and take on significantly more responsibility
A short phone call, video interview, then a day with us seeing how the operation actually runs.
Start date: mid to late September 2026.
Apply with your CV and a few lines telling us:
An operation you have coordinated
How many people you were allocating or managing
One thing you changed that made the operation work better
Why you would thrive in a small business where there is a lot to build and change
No agencies, please.
