Oral Surgery Assistant / Dental Assistant

This role requires a person with both knowledge and experience in dental assisting to work as an Oral Surgery Assistant in an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice. The main practice is located in 'state of the art' rooms at the top end of Collins Street and there are branch practices in Hawthorn East and Bundoora.

You would function as an assistant for surgical procedures under local anaesthetic and in hospital operating theatre environments, with scope for further training & education. Organisational skills are required and some administrative tasks will need to be undertaken in the role. As you will be working as part of a team communication skills are important.

This position is part-time, with 8 days per fortnight. Training is available for dental assistants who wish to learn surgical assisting skills and to work in a surgical practice. Any oral surgery experience will be an advantage. Training will be provided for consulting sessions along with assisting for procedures and to allow you to develop further in your role.

A Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting or an equivalent nursing qualification is required for hospital accreditation.

The position entails travel to external locations and access to a car is required.

A salary will be established commensurate with your level of experience, with a start date in March or early April.

Dental assistants or nurses with some experience should apply. Applicants must have permanent working rights in Australia.

Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in dental assisting.
