KENNEL & CATTERY ATTENDANT (CASUAL)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and capable Casual Kennel & Cattery Attendant to join our Jimboomba Kennels & Cattery. This role is physically demanding, hands-on and customer-facing, and is best suited to applicants who are confident working with animals and able to perform the inherent requirements of the position. Shifts typically commence from 7:30am, with an approximate duration of around 4 hours. All shifts are completed by 5:30pm. Initially, 12–16 hours per week will be available. Some flexibility with shift times may be available for the right candidate. The role involves regular customer interaction, so strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional manner are required.

Key responsibilities

• Feeding and watering animals in accordance with care instructions

• Cleaning and maintaining kennels, cattery areas and equipment

• Monitoring animal health, behaviour and wellbeing and reporting concerns

• Safely and confidently handling animals of varying sizes and temperaments

• Administering medication to animals as directed (training provided where required)

• Maintaining hygiene, safety and animal welfare standards

• Providing professional and courteous customer service

ABOUT YOU

·         Genuine interest in animal care

·         Confidence handling dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments (including larger or anxious animals)

·         Physically capable of performing cleaning, lifting and standing duties

·         Strong customer service and communication skills

·         Reliable, punctual and able to work independently

·         Available to work weekends, public holidays and school holiday periods

·         Willing to be trained and follow workplace procedures

·         Previous animal care experience is desirable but not essential — training can be provided to the right candidate

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

·         Legal right to work in Australia

·         Willingness to obtain, or already hold, a Police Check

·         Ability to provide a minimum of two (2) work‑related, contactable references

·         Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
