Forklift Operator, Nursery Hand & HR Truck Driver

About the role

This is a varied, multifaceted role combining forklift operation, hands-on nursery labour, picking, packing and loading orders, HR truck driving and customer deliveries, and general dispatch, yard and logistics support. This is not a driving-only position. Some days will involve deliveries, while others will focus on loading, forklift operation, nursery work and assisting the wider team wherever required.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a forklift to safely move, prepare and load nursery stock.

• Load and secure plant trolleys, trays, seedlings and nursery products.

• Drive an HR truck to deliver orders to farms, stores and customer locations.

• Unload and position plant trolleys and stock at delivery locations.

• Pick, pack and prepare customer orders for dispatch.

• Perform hands-on nursery labour and general operational duties.

• Move stock and trolleys between nursery areas and departments.

• Check orders against delivery paperwork and run sheets.

• Communicate with dispatch, nursery staff and customers.

• Keep loading, dispatch and storage areas clean, safe and organised.

About you

• A current and valid HR Driver Licence.

• A current Forklift Licence with practical loading experience.

• Previous experience in a commercial nursery, horticultural business or similar hands-on environment.

• Commercial truck-driving and delivery experience.

• Experience safely loading, securing and unloading bulky or wheeled stock.

• A strong understanding of load restraint and road-safety requirements.

• The physical fitness required to perform nursery labour and move plant trolleys, trays and stock.

• A willingness to work across multiple areas of the business—not only drive.

• A reliable, punctual and flexible approach.

• Good communication and customer service skills.
