Directors - Social Security Stream

The Social Security Stream is responsible for policies and programs supporting the financial wellbeing of Australian people and families, including through targeted payments and assistance through the social security system and disability employment services. 

The Social Security Stream includes three Groups:

Participation and Family Payments Group which is responsible for designing policy and working across government to deliver the social security safety net, with a focus on assistance for families and children, support for people with disability and carers and assistance for people to take up employment or study. 

System, Strategy and Seniors Group which is responsible for international payments and compliance of the social security system, along with the Age Pension and a strong focus on the long-term sustainability and integrity of the social security system.

Disability Employment Group which is responsible for the policy, implementation and program management for improving employment outcomes and services for people with disability, illness and injury.

Directors will lead the development and implementation of a range of activities in policy design, program management or delivery on the governments priorities to support vulnerable Australians. 

Successful candidates will need highly developed capabilities in strategic thinking, leadership, written and interpersonal communication, problem-solving and be able to work with stakeholders at a variety of levels, including departmental executive, external agencies and peak advocacy organisations.
