Procurement Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and commercially minded Procurement Engineer to join our Pre-Construction Team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing procurement packages from initial review through to subcontract award across a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, manufacturing and logistics projects.

This position is ideally suited to a Project Engineer, Contract Administrator, Quantity Surveyor or Procurement professional who enjoys working at the front end of projects, influencing key project outcomes and collaborating closely with estimating and delivery teams.

Working within a fast-paced environment, you will gain exposure to a broad range of projects and construction disciplines while developing expertise across procurement, commercial management, contract administration and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement packages from RFQ preparation through to subcontract award
• Review drawings, specifications and project documentation to prepare procurement strategies and tender packages
• Measure quantities and assess construction scopes for major trade packages
• Source, engage and evaluate subcontractors and suppliers
• Conduct commercial assessments, tender evaluations and subcontract negotiations
• Prepare pricing schedules, scope comparisons and recommendation reports
• Coordinate procurement activities with estimating, project management and site teams
• Manage subcontractor relationships and maintain supplier performance feedback loops
• Assist with contract preparation, technical clarifications and commercial risk reviews
• Participate in project handovers and ensure seamless transition from pre-construction to project delivery
• Support procurement planning for major civil, concrete, structural, fit-out and service packages
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes and systems

What You Need to Excel in the Role

• 5+ years’ experience within construction, engineering, procurement, contract administration or quantity surveying
• Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Experience working on commercial and industrial construction projects
• Exposure to subcontract procurement, contract administration and commercial management processes
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, variations and subcontractor engagement
• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation
• Ability to negotiate commercial outcomes and build strong stakeholder relationships
• Experience managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
• Strong attention to detail and commercial acumen
• Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office and procurement software platforms such as ProcurePro

Highly Regarded Experience

• Site-based Project Engineering experience
• Experience procuring civil, concrete and structural packages
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, fire, refrigeration or hydraulic services
• Experience measuring quantities and preparing take-offs from drawings
• Working with Design & Construct (D&C) contractors on commercial and industrial projects
• Previous experience in smaller to mid-tier businesses where broad project exposure has been gained
