The Role
HIX is growing, and we are looking for three experienced Fire Safety Technicians (Electrical) - Projects to join our Projects Team in Penrith.
This hands-on role focuses on the installation, commissioning, testing, fault finding, and rectification of fire detection and life safety systems across a range of commercial, industrial, and government facilities. You'll play a key role in delivering project works while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Be Doing
Install, commission, test and rectify fire detection and alarm systems
Install and commission Fire Indicator Panels (FIPs), EWIS, VESDA, smoke detectors, heat detectors and associated systems
Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, repairs and troubleshooting of fire safety systems and components
Install, upgrade and rectify exit and emergency lighting systems
Assist with Full Function Fire Testing (FFFT) and commissioning activities
Complete inspection, testing and maintenance activities on a variety of fire protection systems when required
Accurately complete all safety, quality and project documentation
Liaise with clients and stakeholders to deliver a high standard of workmanship and customer service
Assist with site assessments, project planning, quoting and technical recommendations
Work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, Technicians and Apprentices to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule
Participate in on-call and emergency response activities when required
Maintain compliance with Australian Standards, Fire Industry requirements, and company policies and procedures
Your Education, Experience & Skills
Current Electrical Licence (essential)
Demonstrated experience within the Fire Services Industry
Strong experience installing and commissioning fire detection systems, EWIS, VESDA and associated equipment
Experience with fault finding, repairs and system rectifications
Experience installing exit and emergency lighting systems
Ability to program Fire Indicator Panels highly regarded
Current Driver's Licence (essential)
Construction White Card (essential)
Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and fire industry requirements
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Experience using electronic job management, compliance and safety systems
Commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards
Full working rights in Australia (essential)
