About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Personal Injury Lawyer with approximately 2-3 years' post-admission experience to join our Workers Compensation team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of workers compensation matters, provide high-quality legal services to clients, and work closely with senior practitioners to develop their litigation and advocacy skills. This role offers exposure to the Personal Injury Commission (PIC), hands-on file management, structured mentoring, and a clear pathway for career advancement.
Responsibilities
Legal Practice and Case ManagementManage a portfolio of workers compensation matters from inception through to resolution.Develop and implement case strategies to achieve optimal client outcomes.Conduct legal research and provide accurate advice on workers compensation entitlements and related issues.Draft legal documents, correspondence, submissions, witness statements, applications, and settlement documentation.Prepare matters for conferences, mediations, conciliations, and hearings.Appear before the Personal Injury Commission and participate in settlement negotiations where appropriate.Ensure all matters are managed in accordance with legislative requirements, court and commission deadlines, and firm procedures.
Client Relationship ManagementDeliver professional, timely, and empathetic legal services to clients.Maintain regular client contact and effectively manage expectations.Build strong client relationships founded on trust, transparency, and responsiveness.Assist clients in navigating complex legal processes and challenging personal circumstances.
Operational and Performance ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate file notes, records, and time entries.Progress matters efficiently in accordance with firm systems and service standards.Meet agreed fee, productivity, and performance targets.Participate in file reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Ensure compliance with all professional, ethical, and regulatory obligations.
Team and CultureCollaborate effectively with lawyers, paralegals, law clerks, and support staff.Actively contribute to a positive and high-performing team culture.Participate in mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities.Demonstrate and uphold the firm's values and commitment to excellence.
QualificationsAdmission as a Solicitor in New South Wales.Current NSW Practising Certificate.Minimum 3 years' post-admission experience in personal injury law.Demonstrated experience in workers compensation matters.Strong understanding of NSW workers compensation legislation and Personal Injury Commission procedures.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong organisational and time-management abilities.High level of attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
Required SkillsExperience appearing before the Personal Injury Commission.Advocacy or dispute resolution experience.Experience using legal practice management software such as Smokeball.Existing referral and professional networks within the personal injury sector.
